Connoisseurship

I don’t drink. When wine connoisseurs talk about wine it mostly goes over my head. However, I can make sense of this sort of connoisseurship by relating it to tea, which is a big interest of mine. There are many variables that go into how a cup of tea tastes. For example: the variety of tea plant, the environment (soil, temperature, rainfall) in which it was grown, when it was picked, how the leaves were processed after harvesting, and how the drink is eventually steeped. Variation in any of those will affect how the tea tastes. And so I can see how easy it is to get excited by the possibilities and the varieties that come with that.
