Wanted: Pre-introduction to CSS

2000-07-18 01:00:00 UTC

Recently I've been trying to help a friend to learn how to use cascading style sheets. I tried to start at the beginning, with document structure and CSS selectors. Unfortunately, I don't think this is the beginning.

I suspect what's needed for anyone who doesn't want to learn these things the hard way is a pre-introduction to css, which would cover the history of html (particularly why there are strict and transitional versions of html 4), the separation of content and presentation, and possibly the role of the W3C.

...to be added to the list of documents which I must write, which also includes "Browser Workarounds Considered Harmful" and "Fun Attacks On DoubleClick.net".
