I've had another idea for a Winamp skin. Last time I made one I swore I'd never do it again, but this idea is just too alluring. However, in the process of making this skin I've discovered that the skin format uses some incredibly ugly hacks. Have you ever wondered where the minus symbol comes from when representing the time remaining for a tune? I was shocked to discover that it comes from the middle of the 2. It takes a single row of pixels from the 2, which is all very well when using a digital clock typeface, but when you try to use a thin italic font you either have to have a little dot instead of the minus symbol or you have to mess up the weight of the 2. Anyway, I went for a compromise so now both look wrong.
