I experienced a bizarrely localised power cut last night. The electricity in my house and the house next door went, but up the road the lights just flickered for a while. It was highly annoying since I was running Linux at the time. In general I think Linux is wonderful, but my one complaint is that its filesystem is very fragile and it has to be unmounted properly. A few files got messed up last night but I don't think there was any serious damage. Electricity came back after a few hours.
